Palelei Guitars

Palelei Guitars is Trent Palelei, an emerging Brisbane luthier who specialises in bespoke handcrafted acoustic guitars. Trent builds flat top guitars of all the steel-string variety, contemporary nylon-stringed guitars and traditional guitars including Classical and Flamenco.

Trent studied under Andrew Armstrong of Armstrong Lutherie and learned modal tuning methodology from Trevor Gore. In May 2018, Trent was certified a teacher by the Australian Guitar Making School and now also teaches guitar building at the Brisbane Guitar Making School.

The tone of Palelei Guitars is a modern contemporary tone that provides strong projection, robust fundamentals and clear overtones. Tailoring warm or bright depending on customer preference, balanced, dynamism and responsiveness are the key focuses of each build.

Trent has a strong aesthetic that is heavily influenced by art deco, often incorporates strong geometric themes and architecturally inspired appointments. Trent is also a strong advocate of ethical and sustainably sourced Australian tonewoods.
