Description of this instrument for sale
The timple is a plucked string musical instrument of 5 strings, typical and native to the Canary Islands.
It is generally a five-stringed instrument, although in some cases it can also have four strings. The narrow, curved soundboard underneath is called joroba, so the instrument is also known as the camellito sonoro.
In its beginnings it was an accompaniment instrument at musicians’ parties and was played only by strumming the strings. Over time, different strumming patterns were developed on each island.
Nowadays the Timple soloists (timplistas) play a mixture of plucking, arpeggios and strumming.
