Description of this instrument for sale

Exceptional
"The smallest variations in attack are reproduced with richness of tone and abundant dynamics."

That's what Jens Hausmann writes about this custom Fingerstyle with neck-body transition at 13th fret in issue 1-21 of Akustik Gitarre (the most popular German magazine on acoustic guitars). It is the result of two custom guitars built in parallel of which the first one was a customer request and the latter was built for our stock is now being offered.

Exceptional Neck-Body Transition
While the good old blues guitar has its transition at 12th fret and most "modern" steel string guitars transit at 14th fret, we are dealing here with an unusual design where the neck joint is located at 13th fret.

This customer request arose from the desire to get as close as possible to the 12 fret tone, but at the same time to achieve better accessibility to the higher registers without having to rely on a cutaway.

Exceptional Woods
Indian Laurel is a very interesting wood for guitar making. Visually appealing with very nice even grain, it is almost similar to Rosewood not only in hue but also in sound. However, its consistency makes it even more percussive and dynamic than Rosewood.

With Lutz Spruce for the top we meet a hermaphrodite among the top woods. Here Sitka and White Spruce both have their fingers in the pie, but in varying proportions. Depending on the location of the tree, it can come to very different sound results. We made use of these different sound characteristics of the Lutz Spruce and deliberately selected a relatively light and stiff wood, which has grown more inland, i.e. has a larger proportion of White Spruce (Adirondack). In this way, we were able to optimally support the great potential of the relatively dense and heavy Laurel with the characteristics of this soundboard.

Handling and Sound
The slightly reduced body nestles wonderfully in the lap. With the relatively flat string action, the playability is optimised so that the guitar responds to fingerstyle acrobatics with ease, but is also not too flat for simpler playing styles. Of course, it can still be adjusted to individual needs at the time of purchase.

The neck width of 45 mm is very comfortable to play. Without having to accept long distances, it offers the fingers enough space to fret safely.

The neck set at 13th fret makes it easier to play in high registers, while allowing to maintain the rich midrange and incomparable harmonic tone. This is achieved by the reduced size of the body, which ensures that the bridge is still located in the center of the vibrating top, as is the case with 12 fret guitars.
