Alfredo Lerma Lutemaker

Alfredo Lerma was born in 1975 in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated as a Mechanical Technician and moved to the Federal Capital to pursue studies in Engineering, Social Sciences, and Performing Arts.

He began constructing his first musical instruments in 2008 and has since worked with violins, violas, cellos, and double basses, as well as vihuelas, classical, romantic, and baroque guitars, lutes, theorbos, mandolins, and other instruments from the Middle East.

Since 2015, he has been involved in various Historic Luthierie Associations, and his research projects have been recognized with international awards and scholarships, allowing him to collaborate with masters from different parts of the world. These professional development activities have expanded his knowledge of designs and structures, decorations, materials, methods, and techniques applicable to these arts and crafts, significantly enhancing his professional work.

He is currently located in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he creates, restores, and preserves musical instruments for private collectors, museums, conservatories, music schools, and individual artists.

Today, he is involved in training lutherie apprentices at various public and private educational institutions, promoting cultural diversity in the region, and valuing the importance of continuous learning and teaching.
