William A Mackay Interview 4 Computer tools and softwares for Luthiers
High tech manufacturing processes interest me and may well be a necessity for a larger workshop aiming at a high volume output to stand a chance in the market place. But, as an independent luthier one man venture use of low tech, historically influenced process with an emphasis on developing hand skills has been the obvious way forward for myself.
Taking that path as with many luthier, I think?
The job becomes part of a lifestyle central to you own philosophy and personal development, at least that’s what I tell myself from time to time.
I’m constantly amazed at where technology is at in this day and age but it should remain a tool also.
It is important for us to retain hand skills, as it is to remain human.
