Daz Guitarz Interview 1 Ton parcours ?
Salut David, tu es un jeune luthier dans le paysage français, de mémoire tu t’es installé il y a deux ans environ, peux-tu nous parler de ton parcours ?
De mémoire, j’ai eu ma première guitare (une Aria Pro 2 Js Series… attention ! 😅) à 13 ans.
Je ne savais absolument rien jouer. Donc je suis allé chercher des tournevis et je l’ai complètement démontée. Évidemment ma mère était furax ! Mais quand elle a vu à quelle vitesse je l’ai remontée nickel elle a halluciné !
Quelques mois plus tard, je savais jouer « Smoke on the water » et « Come as you are » en regardant la télé et là ! La révélation !
Un reportage sur un Luthier violon et autres instruments en Savoie ! J’ai dit à ma mère “je veux faire ça !”
Elle a vu que c’était sérieux.
Avec le rectorat, elle a réussi à me placer dans un collège par alternance. 1 semaine à l’école 1 semaine en ébénisterie. Mais j’étais un minot et l’ébéniste m’a complètement découragé… Du coup, 2 mois après j’ai arrêté.
Pour me consoler j’ai toujours gardé un pied dans la musique en faisant, et en travaillant dans des Shops, mais, la lutherie m’a toujours trottée dans la tête. Les années ont passées et ayant rejoint ma compagne dans sa région, on a fait des travaux dans sa maison et au fond du jardin, il y avait une bâtisse qui servait de garage et débarras.
Je faisais une pause, j’étais en face et 20 ans plus tard nouvelle révélation !
Je vais créer mon atelier de lutherie !
J’avais le local. Mais je voulais d’abord savoir si j’étais vraiment fait pour ça. J’ai regardé des vidéos sur internet pendant 600 heures ! Suite à ça, j’ai acheté les bois, l’accastillage, des micros…, quelques outils et une frontale car je n’avais pas d’électricité.
1 mois plus tard, j’avais fait ma 1ère guitare ! Une réplique de Telecaster 52 !
Je suis allé voir une luthière à 40 minutes de chez moi avec ma guitare. Elle m’a dit « le corps est bien. Le manche tu l’as acheté où ? ». « C’est moi qui l’ai fabriqué ! » « Ah !? Bah, continue comme ça, c’est vraiment bien ! »
Pour moi tous les voyants étaient au vert ! J’ai fait des travaux pour que ce garage se transforme en atelier ! 6 mois de travaux. J’ai cherché des financements pour effectuer une petite formation chez Pmc Guitare ! J’ai eu une aide de la région et j’ai effectué des stages.
Et en mai 2018, Daz Guitarz était née !
Hi David, you are a young luthier in the French landscape, you settled down about two years ago, can you tell us about your career?
Since I remembered, I had my first guitar (an Aria Pro 2 Js Series, man ! ) at 13 years old.
I absolutely know nothing about playing, but I got screwdrivers and I completely dismantled it ! Obviously my mother was furious! But when she saw how fast I pumped it up, she was stunned!
A few months later, I knew how to play «Smoke on the water» and «Come as you are» when watching TV I had a revelation!
A TV show on a Luthier based in Savoy! I said to my mother “I want to do this!”
She saw it was serious.
She managed to register me in a school alternating school and internship with a woodworker. I was young and the woodworker completely discouraged me… So, I stopped after 2 months.
To comfort myself, I kept on playing music, and working in music stores, but, the lutherie was always on my mind. Years go by and I moved to my girlfriend region, did some works in her house and in the back of the garden, there was a building that was used as a garage and storage room.
One day, I was taking a break, looking at this storage and 20 years later a new revelation!
I’m going to create my own lutherie workshop!
I had the local. But I wanted to know first if I was really made for it. I watched videos on the internet for 600 hours! After that, I bought wood, hardware, microphones…, some tools and even a headlamp since the storage had no electricity !
1 month later, I made my first guitar! A replica of Telecaster 52!
I went to see a luthier 40 minutes from home with my guitar. She said, “The body is fine. The neck is great, where did you buy it?” “I made it!” “Really? Well, go on, it’s really good!”
To me all the lights turned green! I did some work so that this storage turns into a workshop! 6 months of work. I looked for funding to perform a small training at Pmc Guitar! I had help from the region and I did my internships.
And in May 2018, Daz Guitarz was born!
