MOST STRANGE RESTORATION OR REPAIR YOU HAD TO DO : Removing the back of a flamenco guitar that I sold to one of my clients that he broke and replacing it with a new one and refinishing it with french polish without jeopardizing the tone and the Quality sound of the guitar.
The most important thing about building a Flamenco guitar for me is the sound to be consistent, Easy to play, choosing quality wood that is aged over five years and low-string action.
Personally handcrafting the instruments using traditional methods that often date back to the days of Torres.
The building technique is very important to stay consistent and also choosing the right wood to produce the right tone.
I stay away from custom orders. most of the time clients would like spacial specification to be added to the instrument, which will jeopardize sound quality. I do not take custom orders, I build them a few at a time for inventory and sale.
If I have a ready-made instrument in my inventory I will send them Photos and a small sound clip if it is possible. if they are local in Los Angeles I will advise them to come over and play the instrument before purchasing, and to answer all the questions that they may have.
Was my instructor and famous flamenco guitar player Mr.Jeno Duri, in Los Angeles. He also owned one of my flamenco guitars and played it on stage.
At the time when I studied and learned guitar making the most important thing was to finish the guitar with a French Polishing finish to produce a quality and better sound. Unfortunately, with todayʼs commercial market many guitars are being chemically produced plastic finishing that jeopardizes the quality and tone of the instrument.
You can buy them in Los Angeles by appointment , or order them on line by sending a message trough Luthiers.com or Instagram or email me.
