Petko Petkov Interview 3 Flagship models
Can you tell us about your current flagship models? Do you have a range that you do regularly? Do you also make unique custom models ? How did you proceed to create them ? What were your choices and your creation process? What kind of musicians do you cater to?
My flagship models are the violin Stradivari Cremonese 1715 and the violoncello Stradivari Piatti.
I handcraft master instruments which are suitable for both professional musicians and advanced students.
My work is based on the Italian style.
The range of models I handcraft regularly are Stradivari, Amati, Scarampella and from the Guarnieri family – Vieuxtemps, Lafont, Il Cannone, Heifetz and Jarnovich.
I also accept orders for custom made models. In 2009 I have handcrafted a violin with a scroll lion head. Currently it is owned by a man living in the USA.
When I have to complete a unique custom model I get in touch with the client in order to clarify all the details starting from the appearance and going to the sound characteristics of the instrument.
I cater to musicians from all over the world.

Petko Petkov has two instruments for sale right now:
Petko Petkov owner of Petkov Violins
Petko Petkov is a violin maker from Bulgaria. He works independently as the owner of Petkov Violins ltd.
The workshop is situated in the suburbs of Kazanlak city.
He handcrafts fine master:
- violins,
- violas,
- and violoncellos.
He handcrafts the following models:
Violoncello –Strad Piatti, Viola -Stradivari, Violin- Stradivari Cremonese, Nicolo Amati, Guarnieri Heifetz, Guarnieri Lafont, Guarnieri Il Cannone, Guarnieri Jarnovich, Guarnieri Vieuxtemps, Scarampella, Lorenzo Storioni.
For his instruments he uses Italian methods of construction. The wood used for his work is with Bulgarian origin-Balkan Maple and Spruce. It is well seasoned and with excellent acoustic qualities.
